Introduction: How to Address PAC in Introductory Remarks at ACP Chapter Meetings
- This chapter meeting is being held under the auspices of the ACP, which is a nonprofit, tax - exempt, charitable 501(c)(3) organization. As such, it is forbidden under Internal Revenue Code regulations from engaging in, supporting, or facilitating efforts to raise funds to support candidates for public office. Engaging in such activities would jeopardize our status as a 501(c)(3) organization.
- Please note that a separate meeting of ACP Services members will be held, during which members may discuss the ACP Services Political Action Committee (PAC) if they wish.
- I will ask you to hold all questions and comments about ACP Services PAC until we have adjourned the ACP meeting and the ACP Services meeting has begun.
- For those of you not familiar with ACP Services, this is a separate professional membership association created in 1998 to provide advocacy and other services to internist - members.
- ACP Services operates under different IRS tax rules that allow it to engage in political activities — such as operating a political action committee — that 501(c)(3) organizations like ACP cannot operate. All members of the ACP are automatically members of ACP Services.
- If you are a dues - paying and/or voting member of ACP/ACP Services and a U.S. citizen or legal foreign resident, you are invited to attend the ACP Services meeting, which will take place on [date, time, location].
